92Y Tribeca Cultural Art Center

Envisioned as a downtown counterpart to their uptown institution, 92Y Tribeca functions as both a flexible event space and a culture-focused community center. Located on the ground floor of a 12 story building constructed in 1926, the design engages the neighborhood through glass frontage inviting patrons to the bar, café, art gallery and box office.
The program also includes a live performance space for seating up to 200, a 72-seat film screening room, lecture rooms, production and broadcasting facilities and administrative offices. 92Y Tribeca strives to connect people through imaginative programming in the arts, entertainment and cultural education, both in person and through satellite, television, radio and internet broadcasts. Adjacent to a busy intersection, Kostow Greenwood placed the social gathering spaces on the perimeter while the performance space and screening room with their need for acoustical isolation became the inner core of the design.
Kostow Greenwood’s design supported the venerable flagship, 92nd Street Y, brand its new downtown venue as an intimate yet vibrant destination for the younger arts patron.
