Job description

Be ready to bring your designs to fruition on time and on budget, as we are a full-service firm with design+build services.  Designing distinctive custom, sustainable landscapes from the initial concept is just one aspect of our designers’ work.  Designers also develop construction detail and secure entitlements and permits to ensure beautiful, sustainable and cost-effective implementation of designs.  We manage outside consultants, vendors and resources until the start of the construction phase and work hand-in-hand with the build team to ensure clients’ visions are achieved. As the primary client liaison, designers provide top-notch customer service, keeping clients informed through the completion of construction.

Responsibilities

  • Work hand in hand with clients to discover their vision for use of the outdoor space
  • Identify project goals, purpose and site opportunities and constraints
  • Manage projects, tracking timelines and benchmarks to achieve milestones on time and on budget
  • Lead cross-functional (design, consultant and build) teams
  • Provide top-notch client service and effectively manage client expectations
  • Inspire team collaboration on the development of creative, sustainable solutions to complex design challenges
  • Plan and design a variety of project elements from softscaping and hardscaping to structures, and special features
  • Translate designs into visuals, verbal and written communications that clients of varied expertise can fully comprehend and place into the context of their own space
  • Direct and coordinate consultants and subcontractors
  • Write effectively, producing vision statement narratives, project scopes, proposals, tender packages, design reports, and specifications
  • Produce various design related deliverables using a multitude of digital and hand media
  • Supervise and inspect construction progress to ensure effective implementation of designs
  • Participate in workshop sessions and other public engagement opportunities needed to ensure project completion
  • Supervise the design, construction, and administration of landscape projects and contracts

Qualifications

  • 3 years of experience in Landscape Architecture
  • A love for native plants and nature and a dedication to purpose-driven work
  • An open mind and passion for new trends in design fields
  • Extensive project and client management experience at a variety of project scales
  • Excellent interpersonal, leadership, problem-solving and communication skills
  • Demonstrated excellence in Conceptual Design and Project Visioning
  • Ability to work well within a team and willingness to both learn and mentor
  • Strong portfolio of built projects which demonstrates excellent technical abilities and understanding of construction
  • Ability to prepare and manage presentation packages and peer review of technical documents
  • Excellent freehand and/or digital drawing skills
