Job Description:  Director of Interior Design

My client is  looking for a mid-career Senior Interior Designer or Interior Architect with at least 15 years’ experience working on institutional projects - including active involvement in all phases of design from programming for FF & E to material selection, documentation, specifications and furniture procurement.  This individual would collaborate with the architectural teams, including the design partners and senior design leadership, to organize and coordinate the design and implementation process for material and furniture selection on a wide variety of projects.  More generally, the role would also include working with their Resource Librarian and studio architects and designers to improve office-wide knowledge, expertise and skills related to interiors.

Responsibilities / Skills required:

  • Team leadership and Organizational skills
  • Graphic and Material presentations for in-house and client meetings
  • Developing Materials Palettes / Boards
  • Programming with user groups for FF&E
  • Extensive knowledge of Furniture systems and contacts in the industry
  • Interior Planning
  • Specifications
  • Project budgeting
  • Archiving of Project Materials and Furniture
  • Developing layouts for typical room types
  • Participation in the Materials Resource Committee
  • Software: excel, in design, word,  revit (familiarity)
