Paul Davis Architects is a design-oriented office just inland from Venice, CA (Mar Vista/WLA).  We do detail-intensive residential, retail, and commercial work - including restaurant/hospitality projects and sensitive renovation of historic modern structures - with an emphasis on craft and sustainability.

At this time we are looking for a top-flight licensure-path architect with a strong academic design background (bachelor's or master's degree from a US accredited institution) and 3-5 years experience with US offices that are dedicated to ambitious design, client service, carefully considered detailing, and highest quality graphic presentation.

The available position will involve drawing set preparation and design (also product research, etc.) under the supervision of project managers and the principal.  This work will lead to project management responsibilities in keeping with the staff member's capacity.

The ideal applicant will have exceedingly strong design skills, some demonstrated ability in project management-related tasks, and be able to assemble filing, pricing, and contract document sets with guidance as to basic formatting and necessary information.  Excellent written and oral communications skills (in English) are vital, as are basic knowledge of building code/zoning and permitting processes, as well as exposure to general detailing for construction.  We appreciate LEED credentials.  Restaurant design experience is a plus.

Desired additional skills include excellent client/consultant/contractor-relations ability, field experience conducting construction administration, and facility with Adobe creative suite programs, as well as current modeling and rendering software (Rhino, SketchUp, etc.).

Our office uses Vectorworks on Mac platform for 2D drawing preparation.  We will train experienced AutoCad users.

Applicants must have appropriate US work visa.

Please send a brief cover letter, resume, and samples of relevant academic and professional work (including construction document excerpts and details) to:
