Data Management – Prepare, collect and organize electronic and hard copy files for all development projects. Prepare exhibits and plans to support needs of other departments.
Design – Manage design review and approval process for all FF&E acquisition. Support the Project Management Team in developing designs for all building improvements.
Project Management – Primary responsibility for managing the planning, design, entitlement and construction of new resort development projects.
Maintenance – Oversee the ongoing maintenance of existing Company buildings and infrastructure.
DESIGN TEAM RESPONSIBILITIES
Design Support – Assist operations departments (hotels, F&B, tours, retail) in evaluating the design component of any proposed development or FF&E acquisition.
Design Review – Manage the design review process.
Purchase & Installation – Work with Purchasing Dept. to secure best pricing for any acquired asset and coordinate installation of asset on site.
PRINCIPLE DUTIES PERFORMED BY THE DESIGN ASSOCIATE (DA)
The DA position will reside on the Design Team and will support the Design Manager in managing all Company design needs. In the three primary functions of the Design Department, the DA shall:
a. Participate in regular walk-throughs of all Company buildings and document design issues requiring attention as noted by Management.
b. Prepare specifications books for every Company property, documenting all design elements of the facility and keep the book updated as required.
c. Support Design Manager (DM) in preparation of presentation materials, sourcing and acquiring samples and obtaining pricing
d. Manage organization of the design presentation room and library, keeping all samples and presentation materials in order. Ordering samples and binders as neccessary
e. Prepare drawings in electronic form (CADD, Revit, Sketch-Up) as needed
f. Support DM in meetings with Sr. Vice President of Operations to review and update design priority list
a. Prepare agendas for design meetings with Company Owners
b. Research and source product, acquire samples & obtain pricing
c. Prepare presentation boards
d. Take detailed meeting notes, tracking approvals and required re-submittals
e. Prepare and distribute final meeting notes to Senior Management and Ownership.
Purchasing & Installation:
a. Prepare and manage detailed material tracking list
b. Coordinate with vendors and suppliers regarding deliveries
c. Coordinate with Catalina Freight in Wilmington and Avalon to confirm shipment and delivery
d. Document delivery of proper materials; return broken or incorrect material
e. Coordinate delivery of material from Catalina Freight in Avalon to appropriate Island location
f. With the DM, manage the installation
The DA will report to the DM. The DM will set all priorities for the design team and will oversee the workload for the design team including that of the DA.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
Four-year degree from an accredited college, technical school or equivalent work-related experience. One to three years’ related experience and/or training preferred.
General knowledge of real estate development and construction industry jargon is preferred. Ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing.
Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.

Must be willing to relocate to Catalina Island

Proficient in Microsoft Office, AutoCAD, Adobe Creative Suite (i.e. Photoshop; InDesign, Illustrator); Sketch-Up and/or Revit capabilities a plus. SU Podium or hand rendering abilities a plus.
Highly developed skills in preparation of presentation materials
Experience in the FF&E process from design, sourcing, purchasing, tracking, and installation.
Excellent problem solver with good listening skills and strong follow-through
