The Los Angeles office of SmithGroupJJR is looking for a Senior Technical Architect to deliver technical solutions for healthcare, science and technology, learning and a variety of other projects. We are seeking a talented individual that is committed to design excellence, who thrives in an environment of collaboration and who demonstrates a high degree of creativity and entrepreneurial spirit.
Responsibilities may include:
Finds technical solutions to deliver the design through documentation and detailing while preserving the design intent.
Leads a team of architects to complete technical documents for small to large scale projects of complex nature (healthcare, science and technology, learning)
Has the ability to prepare, coordinate, and complete a construction documents package.
Leads coordination of consultants of all disciplines.
Prepares, develops, and edits specifications.
Evaluates, selects and/or approves materials and products.
Leads day-to-day construction administration activities including coordination with the Contractor, Owner, and Consultants to maintain project progress.
Manages staff to complete multiple small to medium-sized projects or one large project for technical quality
Participates in the preparation of proposals and marketing efforts.
Maintains relationships with past clients and develops relationships with current/new clients.
Mentors and trains junior and intermediate level staff.
We are looking for:
15+ years experience, including experience with Healthcare, S&T and Learning projects.
Architectural license required.
Demonstrated strong technical skills
Has the ability to produce and coordinate a complete set of construction documents for permitting and bidding on small projects.
Demonstrates effectiveness in working in a team setting, communicating with others and customer satisfaction.
Ability to foster relationships with clients, contractors and consultant communities.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively on a team.
Strong communication and organizational skills.
LEED AP preferred.
Revit experience a plus
Healthcare and OSHPD experience helpful.
S&T research laboratory experience helpful

SmithGroupJJR offers competitive compensation and an excellent benefit package, including 401(k) and continuing educational reimbursement. We offer 3 weeks of paid time off within the first year of employment, with the option of purchasing additional time off, and pay for 7 or 8 federal holidays. We also offer an alternative work schedule that provides employees with an additional 15 days off per year (usually Fridays) to help with work/life balance.
