FACULTY POSITION IN INTEGRATED DESIGN IN ARCHITECTURE WITH A FOCUS ON ENERGY
The School of Architecture and Planning at the University at Buffalo, State University
of New York, invites applicants for a full-time faculty position in Integrated Design in Architecture with a focus on Energy, at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor, beginning August 2014. The selected candidate will hold a tenure-track or tenured faculty position in the Department of Architecture. The School encourages applications from architects and researchers focusing on sustainable design through design research, scholarship, and practice.
Successful candidates will demonstrate excellence in synthesizing exceptional design with a response to pressing contemporary issues of energy and environment. A track record of interdisciplinary collaboration is preferred. This position is partially funded by the University’s newly formed Renew Institute (Research and Education in eNergy, Environment and Water), an interdisciplinary research entity created to address urgent global problems. There will be opportunities available to participate in the development of this Institute through this position. Candidates must hold a professional degree in architecture and preference will be given to those with post- professional and doctoral degrees.
The successful candidate will be expected to teach design studios, required environ- mental controls courses and new energy related seminars at the graduate and under- graduate levels. The Department is committed to advanced uses of information technology in education, practice and research. The successful candidate should exhibit knowledge of using and teaching these in his/her courses. Design based research forms the core of the department’s graduate pedagogy and faculty work, and the successful candidate will be expected to take a leadership role in their area of expertise within the School and the University.
