FACULTY POSITION IN ARCHITECTURAL DESIGN
The School of Architecture and Planning at the University at Buffalo, State University of New York, invites applicants for a faculty position in Architectural Design at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor, beginning August 2014. The selected candidate will hold a tenure-track or tenured faculty position in the Department of Architecture. The School encourages applications from architects and academics focusing on the design of buildings that engage architectural design through design research, scholarship and practice.
Successful candidates will demonstrate excellence in the field of architectural design and contemporary theoretical approaches to design; have experience in teaching design studios at both undergraduate and graduate levels; and have an aptitude for translating design positions into theoretical and historical scholarship. A track record of interdisciplinary collaboration is desirable. Candidates must hold a professional degree in architecture and preference will be given to those with post-professional and doctoral degrees.The successful candidate will be expected to teach undergraduate and graduate design studios and courses in architectural history, theory and contemporary design. Research is a priority at the University at Buffalo and the School of Architecture and Planning has a notable reputation as a center of research in design. The successful candidate will be expected to advance a significant program of research and scholarship and participate in one or more of the Department of Architecture’s graduate research groups (Ecological Practices, Inclusive Design, Material Culture, and Situated Technologies).
