The Kansas City Studio of Gould Evans is seeking a full time Interior Design Team Leader to join our collaborative design studio.  We want an intellectually curious thinker who can lead, engage, design, and motivate - who is driven by design challenges and opportunities. The Interior Design Team Leader will oversee and participate in the planning, designing, illustrating, presenting and providing technical documents for architecture and specifically interior projects. 

Gould Evans is a design and planning firm whose principals and associates are united around a common vision: to create experientially rich spaces with positive and measurable outcomes, impacting our clients’ lives every day. Our portfolio is diverse, encompassing higher education projects, civic buildings, cultural institutions, athletics facilities, workplaces, living spaces, environmental branding and urban planning. We currently have more than 110 associates across our Phoenix, San Francisco, Kansas City, Lawrence, New Orleans, and Tampa studios.

Primary Responsibilities:    Manage and build all aspects of an interior design practice related to design and documentation, business development and client support.

  • Ability to advance ideas through creativity.
  • Integrate findings with project-specific research and knowledge of interior design to formulate client specific options and solutions.
  • Advise clients on interior design factors such as space utilization, spatial organization, integration of building systems, and utilization of furnishings and equipment, color schemes, and finishes.
  • Coordinate with architectural project teams and direct interior design efforts among the Interior Design Team.


We’re seeking candidates with:

  • Design literacy
  • 10 or more years of professional experience in the field of interior design, interior architecture or architecture with direct experience in the development of interiors.
  • A team-based approach to problem solving and a propensity to explore multiple solutions to a given problem.
  • Demonstrated ability to think in visual terms, to communicate, illustrate and present ideas effectively, and to lead clients through challenging problem-solving exercises. Multiple successful examples of programming client needs; preparing conceptual designs, schematic design, design development and construction documents; and managing budgets and schedules.
  • A passion for research in the human factors aspects of interior architecture.
  • NCIDQ Certification and LEED Accreditation preferred.
