Mid-level Designer / Vectorworks Drafter
JKA is a small architecture firm with an open-minded, collaborative approach to design and considerable growth potential. We are seeking an additional, mid-level designer / drafter to support ongoing residential projects. At JKA, we sweat the details, and we are smart about construction.
The ideal candidate will be an organized self-starter with the following attributes:

A fresh, creative design sensibility that is well-suited to the challenges of integrating the aesthetic objectives of our discipline with the technical aspects of construction

Experience with interior and exterior detailing of assemblies with an eye toward how these detail decisions support the design intent

Sketches freehand well and drafts beautifully
-
Has strong written and verbal communication skills
Additional Qualifications:

Must be proficient in Vectorworks
-
Must have excellent references
-
Must be efficient and well-organized
-
A degree in architecture or design from an accredited school
-
4 or more years of experience in the production of details & construction documents
-
Comfort with computers and Mac OS, in particular.

Proficiency with Adobe creative suite, Word & Excel

Familiarity with preparation of filing drawing sets for NYC building code compliance
-
U.S. Citizen or legal work status only
-
Construction administration experience a plus
Applicants will submit resume and condensed portfolio that demonstrates through technical drawings a solid understanding of how buildings are put together -- details and assemblies will be essential. We believe that great design ideas only work when we do, and this detail & research component comprises the bulk of our work.
