NBBJ Seattle is seeking a senior-level Interior Design Lead to join our Healthcare Practice and lead integrated project teams working on Healthcare projects. One of the key fundamentals to our success is our integrated project teams: interior designers, architects and other design disciplines working together in a highly collaborative environment taking projects from concept through construction.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage the interior design effort of healthcare projects of various sizes and complexities
  • Plan and lead research to discover new and innovative insights
  • Foster and develop design talent, leading with enthusiasm and setting standards for professional and creative rigor
  • Remain current on industry trends and challenges


Skills and Qualifications required:

  • 10+ years of professional experience, primarily in Healthcare
  • Interior Design, Interior Architecture or Architecture degree from an accredited program
  • NCIDQ certified or Registered Architect, or on track for certification/licensure
  • Previous experience working on complex Healthcare projects in all phases of design
  • Willingness and ability to participate in industry speaking or presentation engagements
  • Design Excellence – Champion design excellence across the firm, leading our practice in setting new standards for innovation, performance, and social and environmental impact.
  • Collaborative Mindset – Excel in cross-disciplinary collaboration with architects, planners, lighting and graphic designers and other firm-wide practice leaders in developing and pursuing common strategies
  • Communication Skills (verbal, written and graphic) - A critical element of this role is to deliver insights in a clear way that generates empathy, emotion, and engagement from the client and design team
  • Ability to conceptualize design that reflects the client’s enterprise
  • Have a  passion for Human Experience and Performance Metrics
  • Drive design toward measurable outcomes for achieving client, community and environmental goals
  • Ability and talent for working with teams locally and remotely coupled with a desire to mentor and nurture the talents of other team mates
  • Desire to travel
  • Appropriate knowledge of color and materials with the ability to select and research materials based on design concept, code requirements, proper use, durability, sustainability and cost

Skills and Qualifications desired:

  • Demonstrated knowledge of Revit, Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, SketchUp
  • LEED accreditation
  • Current knowledge of furnishings and upholstery with the ability to select, budget and specify
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and multiple deadlines
  • General knowledge of building codes and standards
  • Capability to prepare design and construction documents and coordinate specifications
