Job Captain / Project Design Lead
Shlemmer+Algaze+Associates (SAA) is an architectural firm specializing in the design of commercial office interiors and base building renovations. We currently have two openings for Job Captain in our Culver City office. One position requires Account/Sustainability experience. The other requires previous experience working on behalf of the landlord. Both positions require previous experience working on commercial office interiors. Qualifications and Skills:

Minimum 5 years' experience in corporate interiors

Ability to work well in a team environment

Hand Sketching
-
Knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices, and procedures within the industry/profession

Experience with AutoCAD (required)

Bachelor's degree or professional degree with applicable experience

High level of organization and attention to detail

Multi-tasking ability and good judgment

Ability to prioritize and manage tasks against deadlines and profitability

Self-starter, motivated, takes initiative and is proactive in management of the process and has strong work ethic

Client service skills, including presentations with internal and external clients

Understanding of complex interior architectural detailing

Understanding and competence with 2010 with California Building Codes, Title 24 Code Compliance

Knowledge and experience in Construction Observation/Administration

Experience with submittal and processing of documents to City Agencies
-
Coordinate as required with project manager throughout the duration of the project
-
Understanding and competence in project fee management and profitability as relates to all aspects of the project

LEED AP preferred
Job duties include, but are not limited to the following:
-
Ability to lead client through programming and schematic design process
-
Sketch plan alternatives during client meetings
-
Present design concepts to internal and external clients
-
Coordinate transformation of initial rough product designs into working documents using AutoCAD
-
Complete knowledge of all aspects of construction document package including construction details, ceiling and millwork detailing, door hardware schedules, coordination of server room layout and requirements, etc

Perform thorough code analysis throughout project phases

Review drawings and designs to ensure adherence to established specifications and standards
-
Consult with SAA employees, clients, and various consultants on the development of plans and specifications
-
Direct, lead and coordinate the in-house project team, including furniture and finish design
-
Effective communication and coordination with project team including MEP engineering, contractors, furniture vendors, security and cabling, visual vendors, building ownerships, and building officials
-
Coordinate the submittal of documents as required to all city agencies (building, planning, fire, health departments, etc) and follow through with plan check process and all required associated coordination of plan check issues, corrections, etc. including required interface with MEP and structural engineers

Assist project manager to keep projects on budget; with understanding and support of SAAs billing and tracking system

Coordinate LEED Project Administration
