SoulCycle, a unique, upscale, boutique exercise studio and lifestyle brand, is looking for a Junior Designer to help support the Design team. The ideal candidate will be energetic, detail oriented, smart, responsible, enthusiastic and will perform their duties with dedication and commitment. A passion for fitness and/or indoor cycling highly preferred.  

JOB TITLE:  JUNIOR DESIGNER
STATUS:  FULL TIME

Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for the management and oversight of SoulCycle design guidelines, product binder, product research and SoulCycle standard drawings and detail matrix
  • Responsible for handling “special projects” to include: post open resolution, renovations, and other facilities initiatives
  • Act as a liaison with internal departments including Operations and Facilities.
  • Design and fabricate mood/materials boards as necessary
  • Order material samples for presentations, finish boards, and the library
  • Responsible for source pricing, lead time, and stock availability of products and finishes
  • Create multimedia (PowerPoint) presentations, spreadsheets in Excel, and text documents in Word
  • Create blocking diagrams, floor plans, interior elevations, and cabinetry details in AutoCAD
  • Organize and maintain the physical product and materials library, as well as the architectural archive
  • Manage weekly package of deliverables for the Design team
  • Write purchase orders and send them to vendors for fabrication
  • Circulate documents to consultants
  • Become familiar with SoulCycle spatial requirements. Maintain “program comparison charts” showing square footages by area in existing studios
  • Create computer visualizations and renderings to assist as necessary for design presentations
  • Interpret jurisdictional signage requirements and develop a signage design for multiple projects
  • Assist in developing prototypical spatial requirements. Create AutoCAD drawings of standard SoulCycle spaces, including square footage requirements, storage requirements and material requirements
  • Upload hardcopies, print, and send out drawings to reproographics
  • Photography and graphic design: Photograph studios, create mood and finishes board, create renderings, edit images
  • Scan finishes for archives

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor degree in architecture or interior design
  • Recent graduate with two years professional experience with architect or design firm
  • Working knowledge of AutoCAD, Adobe OS, Sketch Up, VKay, and Microsoft Office Suite
  • Experience in development of product/material, and project specifications
  • Working knowledge of model building codes, specifically in New York City
  • Highly organized with strong work ethic, strong management skills and ability to work well with a design team
  • Excellent design and aesthetic sensibilities and an intrinsic understanding of luxury brands
  • Prior experience successfully managing multiple projects from inception to completion, on-time and on-budget
  • Strong spatial understanding and strong hand-sketching ability
  • Personal passion for the SoulCycle brand and/or fitness

This position reports directly to the Director of Design and Senior Designer
