Danny Forster Design Studio (DFDS) is a boutique design firm with design projects ranging from mixed use retail, multi-story hospitality, high end residential, and restaurant projects. We currently have an opening for a full-time Designer, in our design team with full benefit package. Candidate must have an Architect license in the State of New York.

SUMMARY OF POSITION:

The Designer position is responsible for assisting the Senior Project Designer in designing a variety of projects ranging from small to large scale projects.​  The Designer assists in the development of the project design, production of presentation drawings, sketches and assists in solving design complexities.​  This individual must demonstrate creativity and good design judgment.​

This position is expected to demonstrate professionalism, high standards and sound judgment.​  It is essential to develop your knowledge in architecture and to support a continuous learning environment.​ Team building and motivation are also key responsibilities.​

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE BUT NOT LIMITED TO:

  • Assists with development and implementation of project design concepts
  • Produces presentation drawings, sketches and renderings
  • Supports follow-through of initial design through completion of construction
  • Creates, develops and implements project design concepts
  • Projects are completed in accordance with client requirements, code requirements, standards, and site adjustments.​
  • Provide directions and instruction within your team, as well as share knowledge, in order to produce a complete set of architectural construction documents.​
  • Brainstorm, develop models and present unique design proposals.
  • Listen and communicate with the client about prospective ideas.
  • Brainstorm creative design plans.
  • Interact with other designers and architects.
  • Present design proposals.
  • Follow up with design work as building progresses.
  • Produce detailed drawings

 JOB REQUIREMENTS:

  • B.ARCH or M.ARCH in Architecture
  • Must have an Architect license in the State of New York.
  • Management Experience 2-3 persons
  • Substantial technical knowledge of Construction Documentation & Construction Administration.
  • 5+​ years in designing small to mid-size architectural projects
  • Revit experience is a must
  • Creativity and knowledge of architectural project phases
  • Ability to use computer systems as an effective tool
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, and 3D modeling
  • Presentation skills are required
  • Travel may be required
