The mission of the School of Visual Arts BFA Interior Design is to educate the next generation of interior designers with special emphasis on the conceptual, creative and design leadership aspects of the interior design profession over routine practice.

SVAID is seeking an Interior Designer or Architect specializing in Interior Architecture and Interior Design to join our award-winning faculty as a part-time professor. The position posting is for the Undergraduate 3rd Year Junior Course, Sustainable Design, Fall 2017. The course spans 1 semester and meets three (3) hours per session for fifteen (15) sessions.

Sustainable Design
Fall 2017 semester: 3 studio credits
Sustainable design is an important strategy in today’s design of the built environment, and clients are embracing it as part of their business models and mission statements. This course is geared toward the study of sustainable design strategy as good practice and as related to LEED (Leadership in Energy and EnvironmentalDesign). Through case studies (in both the public and private sectors) and class projects, students will explore sustainable environmental design.

Requirements/ Preferences:

  • BFA or MFA or its equivalent in interior design, architecture or a related field
  • College-level teaching experience
  • NCIDQ certification or registered architect or its equivalent
  • Strong skills/knowledge in the technical aspects of building design and construction
  • LEED certification preferred
