RYA seeks a talented Project Architect with significant experience managing complex, high-end, modern residential and hospitality projects specifically on the East End of Long Island and New York City.  RYA attracts people who share our vision of a humane architecture underpinned by the study of space, light, material richness, someone who loves the craft of making things. We are looking for someone who is creative, responsible, organized, and deeply committed to follow through. As all our team members are involved creatively throughout design and construction, RYA values well rounded professionals who embrace the maddening but ultimately rewarding brew of uncompromising design vision and the pragmatic real world thinking required to get things built.


  • Minimum of 5-7 consecutive years’ relevant experience (post grad)


  • Strong organizational, time-management and client management skills

  • Experience and ability to act as key liaison for RYA to clients, and consultants

  • Experience managing staff to meet internal budget, schedule, staffing and financial performance goals for multiple projects at once

  • Excellent verbal, written and graphic communication skills

  • Well developed conceptual and design skills and the ability to create compelling graphic presentations.

  • Fluency with Autocad, Sketchup, InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, MS Office 

  • Fluency with NYC and East End building and zoning codes

  • Thorough understanding of construction techniques, building science, and trade ecosystem for both NYC and the East End.

  • Experience with multiple completed projects as project leader

  • Passion to train and develop junior staff

  • English language fluency.

  • Legally eligible to work in the United States, without need for employee sponsorship
