Our busy, friendly, and socially-conscious architecture, planning, and sustainability design studio and development practice  in Brooklyn is looking for a Studio Manager.  We are Cycle Architecture + Planning, a platform for architecture, development, and urban research that has a diverse client base including public, private, and non-profit organizations. We’re growing and evolving from a company that provides design and consulting services to a company that creates sustainable buildings, places, and development strategies.  We’re looking for the right person to manage our studio, develop our outreach, & help facilitate our expansion.

This position has potential for growth and an opportunity to play a critical role in the development and direction of our business. The right candidate may be able to participate in the upside of successful projects.

Ideal professional (post-degree) experience: We seek someone who has experience working with small businesses or start-up initiatives with a range of executive management and communication skills.  We’d like to find someone who has the spirit and ability to create new protocols and streamlined administrative practices, while also having the creativity and vision to help us promote and develop our “brand” and identity.

Education requirements: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a sustainability related field.

Skills required:  

  • Experience working with small businesses or start-up initiatives
  • A passion for sustainable design, social equity, and environmental justice
  • Ability to communicate judiciously and clearly, both verbally and in writing.
  • Drive and creativity to help formulate a progressive business environment.
  • Ability to manage contracts with clients, consultants, vendors, and other collaborating partners
  • Ability to administer general office tasks and supervise and interface with office service providers including payroll and HR services, insurance providers, and software vendors.
  • Exceptional personal organization.
  • Ability to work well with financing and projection tools. Experience with Excel a must. Experience with Quickbooks preferable.
  • A basic understanding of business, including statutory and reporting requirements
  • Ability to work with web platforms such as Square Space.
  • Ability to work with social media platforms such as Instagram and Facebook.
  • Ability to create outreach and presentation material using Adobe Photoshop, InDesign, & Illustrator -- Ability to work with other media formats such as video a plus
  • Interest and ability to perform independent research related to our work

This is a full-time, salaried position - salary and benefits commensurate with experience and skills.
