Position Overview:

The Los Angeles office of Skidmore, Owings & Merrill LLP is seeking a senior level interior Architect/Job Captain to be responsible for preparation of construction documents as well as team working on assigned tasks within a project.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Coordinates the work of consultants with architectural documents.
  • Solves complex problems in connection with the design of large and small projects.
  • Assist in the development of local office standards, policies, and procedures.
  • Assist in the development of the entire interior design concept, incorporating all required systems.
  • Assist is the preparation and review of complete design documents on major projects and review of construction documents.
  • Assist in the review of shop drawings and material samples for general conformance with the design intent.
  • Coordinates work on assigned projects within the group and with other disciplines.

  • Four-year architectural or interior design degree.
  • 8-10 years professional experience in design development, documentation, and detailing on a wide variety of projects.
  • Licensed architect preferred.
  • Strong client presentation and client management skills.
  • Excellent communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
  • General knowledge of interior design practice, including programming, space planning, concept and design development, and detailing.
  • General knowledge of the coordination of the work of other disciplines, including structural, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, lighting design, etc.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD and Revit.

This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, copiers, filing cabinets, printers and fax machines.
