Overview of position: The assistant estimator is responsible for estimating residential renovations and new construction projects in New York City and Long Island under the guidance of the estimator. The assistant estimator will interact with project managers, accounting staff, design teams, clients, and subcontractors in order to assemble accurate bids and proposals.
This is a great position to make a transition into the construction field.
Review all plans, specifications, and Owner requirements with Estimator
Prepare call list and follow up for site walk-throughs and RFPs
Attend initial walk-throughs with estimator, owner, architect/designer, and/or subcontractors
Maintain current drawing list, RFIs, and bid set addenda
Assist with pricing of drawings and revisions, including compiling subcontractor proposals
Organize accepted proposals for handoff to project managers
2 to 5 years experience in the design/construction industry required
Industry experience can be outside of estimating
Ability to read construction plans required
In-field construction management or construction administration experience is desired
Intermediate to Advanced level in Microsoft Office Applications (especially Excel)
Experience with Timberline or Maxwell (Viewpoint) Estimating software a plus
Excellent written and confident oral communication skills, including ability to ask concise questions
Availability to work as required by project schedules or important deadlines
Desire to grow within Interior Management
Compensation: Full time, salaried position with benefits. Salary commensurate with candidate experience.
