Allied Works Architecture is a 40-person practice with offices in New York City and Portland, Oregon. Projects include cultural, academic, corporate and residential work located in multiple states across the country and internationally. We are currently seeking applicants for a full-time Manager of Business Development and Communications to work in either the Portland or New York office. This position includes the management of all Business Development, Public Relations, Marketing and Media efforts for the office.

Specific Responsibilities for Business Development

  • Research opportunities and requests for proposals, competitions and other potential projects; conduct proposal-specific research as necessary
  • Assist with production of proposals, competitions and potential project documents
  • Oversee and edit written and graphic marketing materials
  • Create and maintain agendas, schedules, status reports and other business development documents
  • Maintain contact database: generate and track cultivation correspondence
  • Facilitate completion of business development tasks among staff and principals

Specific Responsibilities for PR

  • Serve as primary contact for public relations consultants
  • Act as primary contact for incoming press inquiries
  • Maintain agendas, press documents and archive, contact database and image library
  • Track dates and coordinate desired materials for project openings, awards, publications
  • Assist with special projects including lectures, exhibitions, website development, etc.
  • Send announcements/invitations and plan special events
  • Monitor, maintain and contribute to social media platforms

Qualification Requirements Include:

  • Excellent communication, leadership, administrative and organizational skills
  • Excellent writing skills; experience drafting copy for press and business development preferred
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and effectively juggle multiple deadlines
  • Three+ years experience in design, communications or PR-related field is desired
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, Adobe Creative Suite, Keynote and Filemaker preferred
  • Experience in architecture desired, but not required
