Summary:
Minimum 5 years of experience, ideally in the corporate interiors industry, with diverse knowledge of architecture principles and practices, uses advanced techniques, and has responsibility for finished plans, specifications and material approval. Candidate must have excellent design capabilities and the ability to handle several fast-moving projects with potentially conflicting priorities; must be able to apply critical thinking to ambiguous situations and provide multiple solutions to complex problems. 

This position is primarily responsible for the organization of project files, including drawing sets, and supporting the Project Manager and/or Practice Manager on project-related tasks by performing the following duties.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Performs lead role in construction document production. Prepares scale drawings and contract documents for building contractors.
  • Supports Project Managers with meeting agendas and minutes.
  • Understands project goals and meet performance expectations.
  • Coordinates internal and external team members as directed by Project Manager.
  • Performs code and product research as necessary in the production of design presentations and construction documents. Researches thoroughly and incorporates information into plans.
  • Manages production and deliverables including but not limited to, following redline intent, develops drawings in accordance with the firm’s Computer-Aided Design (CAD) and Building Information Modeling (BIM) standards, presents graphics clearly and researches design information.
  • Uses knowledge of construction procedures, makes site visits and drafts reports following visits.
  • Checks a set of drawing and provides feedback to personnel.
  • Assists Project Manager in in obtaining bids and awarding construction contracts.
  • Directs activities of staff engaged in preparing drawings and specification documents.
  • Provides drawings to Project Manager free of errors and properly coordinated for redlining.
  • Assesses staffing levels required for production work load.
  • Maintains well-organized project digital files in accordance with office filing standards.
  • Is ready for all client meetings and presentations; deliverables are always issued on time.
  • Ensures presentations are graphically clear, well-organized and obtains required approvals.
  • Sketches, models, and renderings correctly represent design intent as given by the Practice Manager or Principal.
  • Understands and integrates technical and installation information into project plans and notifies design team of issues that need to be resolved.
  • Implements strategy discussed with Project Manager or Practice Manager.
  • Communicates discrepancies, issues, and questions to Project Manager in a timely manner.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:

Bachelor's degree (B.A.) in Architecture from four-year college, university or equivalent; or five years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:

  • Licensed Architect or active Intern Development Program (IDP) participation on path to licensure.

OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Ability to work well in a team environment.
  • Ability to understand project goals and meet performance expectations.
  • Strong design ability as representative in sketches, renderings or other means.
  • Proficiency in REVIT is required.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, MS Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel and Outlook) and Adobe Creative Suite, (Acrobat, Illustrator, InDesign and Photoshop) is necessary.
  • Strong writing, editing, organizational, and communications skills.
  • Experience in the architectural/engineering industry is required.
