Summary:
Licensed Architect with a minimum 10 years of experience, ideally in the corporate interior industry, with full project responsibility. Plans and develops multiple projects of medium to large scope and works under minimal supervision. Has diverse knowledge of architecture principles and practices, uses advanced techniques, and has responsibility for finished plans, specifications and material approval. May supervise a staff of architects, designers or technicians. Must have excellent design capabilities and the ability to handle several small fast-moving projects with potentially conflicting priorities. Must be able to apply critical thinking to ambiguous situations and provide multiple solutions to complex problems.

This position is primarily responsible for interpreting, organizing, executing and coordinating assignments. Plans and develops projects concerning unique and/or controversial complexities that significantly impact client programs. Individual must apply sound and diverse knowledge of architecture principles and practices in broad array of assignments and related fields. 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Consults with client and determines functional and spatial requirements of structure.
  • Plans and develops project, including space plans and/or design concepts for presentation to Practice Manager or Principal and ultimately for presentation to client.
  • Directs activities of workers engaged in preparing drawings and specification documents.
  • Prepares information regarding design, structure specifications, materials, color, equipment, estimated costs, or construction time.
  • Prepares contract documents for permit submittal and for bidding and construction. Represents client in obtaining bids and awarding construction contracts.
  • Coordinates with and submits drawings to jurisdictions having authority. When required, participates in planning commission or other jurisdictional hearings.
  • Conducts periodic on-site observation of work during construction and monitors compliance with plans.
  • Administers construction contracts.
  • Manages and communicates ongoing changes in tasks, goals, or performance.
  • Participates in client meetings, contract finalization, and development of requirements and specifications.
  • Works with the Practice Manager to determine the project revenue, cost and profit targets.
  • Manages project budget to reach revenue, cost, and profit targets.
  • Assigns resources to projects and project objectives and monitor progress.
  • Develops project plans and facilitate resolution of all issues to reach project goals.
  • Reviews project proposal or plan to determine time frame, funding limitations, procedures for accomplishing project, staffing requirements, and allotment of available resources to various phases of project.
  • Establishes work plan and staffing for each phase of project, and arranges for recruitment or assignment of project personnel.
  • Confers with project staff to outline workplan and to assign duties, responsibilities, and scope of authority.
  • Directs and coordinates activities of project personnel to ensure project progresses on schedule and within prescribed budget.
  • Reviews status reports prepared by project personnel and modifies schedules or plans as required.
  • Prepares project reports for management, client, or others.
  • Confers with project personnel to provide technical advice and to resolve problems.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:

Bachelor's degree (B.A.) in Architecture from four-year college, university or equivalent; or five years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:

  • Licensed Architect

OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Ability to work well in a team environment.
  • Ability to understand project goals and meet performance expectations.
  • Strong design ability as representative in sketches, renderings or other means.
  • Proficiency in REVIT is required.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, MS Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel and Outlook) and Adobe Creative Suite, (Acrobat, Illustrator, InDesign and Photoshop) is necessary.
  • Strong writing, editing, organizational, and communications skills.
  • Experience in the architectural/engineering industry is required.
