Jill Soffer Design is a contemporary interior design company focusing on luxury interiors and sustainable design practices. We are a boutique firm based in Santa Monica, CA. Proximity to our office is necessary for F2F collaboration.

We are currently seeking a candidate with a BA or MA degree in architecture from a top-rated school and 3-5 years minimum professional experience with high-end residential projects, custom furniture design and fabrication. A practical knowledge of green building practices and sustainable materials is required. Candidates must have a passion for design, excellent interpersonal abilities, strong communication and organizational skills and enjoy working in an intimate studio environment.

 

JOB DESCRIPTION

  • Work collaboratively with Principal on interior plans, elevations and 3D modeling of rooms and furnishings
  • Produce design and construction documents
  • Collaborate on custom furniture drawings and construction

REQUIREMENTS

  • 5 years experience in residential design
  • Very computer savvy with 3-5 years of heavy experience in AutoCAD, SketchUp,  Revit, Adobe Suite, 3D presentation software and Photoshop
  • Solid understanding of architectural and furnishings materials (wood, tile, stone, metal, textiles, leather).  Knowledge of how to detail plans, elevations, construction details, site elements, lighting and interior components of a project
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Effective with clients, contractors and suppliers
  • Proficient with MS Office - Word, Excel, PowerPoint
  • Pro-active, collaborative attitude and a working method that organizes tasks on written lists and establishes clear priorities for daily, weekly and monthly tasks
  • Advanced working knowledge of the custom fabrication process
  • Familiarity with contemporary styles, trends and products, with the intent to move beyond what’s current
  • Strong attention to details and accuracy

This is currently a contract position, with eventual possibility for full-time employment or collaboration.
