Founded in 2000, SAA is an interior design and architectural firm dedicated to delivering forward-thinking integrated design solutions. With the collective vision of the Founders, Nelson Algaze and Rick Shlemmer, SAA has become known for their business-driven design solutions, with a staff of Designers, Architects and Planners in Southern California and New Jersey. 

The Role

This position requires 10 -- 15 years of interior architecture design experience and a very collaborative and holistic approach to projects. Possible candidates must be able to develop "design criteria" for projects. This includes programming and development of project goals; concept development and space planning to meet both functional and aesthetic criteria; development of three-dimensional architectural character, elevations, ceiling plans and lighting, and interior architectural elements; finishes and materials, colors, patterns, and graphics.

We’re looking for someone who is competent, willing and able to make decisions, take the bull by the horns and work hard. Other things we like to see:

The ideal candidate should possess the following qualifications and skills:

  • Minimum 8 years’ experience (commercial office interior design and tenant improvement experience highly desired)
  • Bachelor's degree or Associate's degree with experience
  • Certified Interior Designer (CA) and/or NCIDQ Certification or CA Architectural Registration preferred
  • LEED Professional Accreditation preferred
  • Proficiency with current commonly used computer tools and applications including CAD, (Photoshop or Illustrator, Sketch-up preferred), Word and Excel preferred
  • Customer service skills with internal and external customers

 Job duties include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Develop project design criteria for various client types
  • Extensive knowledge of all areas of interior architecture and design
  • Ability to work on multiple projects of any size and/or complexity
  • Act as a design project leader
  • Rely on extensive experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals
  • Directs, delegates and reviews the work of others
  • Understands and implements the Company's marketing plan
  • Direct and coordinate allied project consultants (i.e. lighting, graphics, A/V, others)
