SoulCycle, a unique, upscale, boutique exercise studio and lifestyle brand, is looking for a designer to join the Design department. The ideal candidate will be energetic, detail oriented, smart, responsible, enthusiastic and will perform their duties with dedication and commitment. A passion for fitness and/or indoor cycling highly preferred.  

JOB TITLE:                  DESIGN MANAGER

STATUS:                      FULL TIME

Responsibilities:

  • Manage multiple (3-4) new studio projects from Schematic Design through Contract Administration.  Manage external consultants and work with other members of the internal Design, Construction and Real Estate teams.
  • Strategic focus on brand maintenance, detail development, implementation, code compliance and project close-out.
  • Create and assist with the development of renderings and product presentations for internal review.
  • Coordinate and implement the brand’s Work Letter with various consultants
  • Regularly review and update project schedules and program.
  • Assist in resolving construction/design related issues as they arise in the field and work with consultants to providing sketches and expertise.
  • Research materials and direct the selection and allocation of finishes to create aesthetic value in line with brand positioning.
  • Review shop drawings and submittals on multiple projects.
  • Act as a liaison with internal departments including Operations, Facilities and Finance.
  • Manage execution of exterior branding packages inclusive of architectural upgrades to building and signage.
  • Manage SoulCycle standard specifications and regularly update and distribute as necessary.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Minimum of 4-5 years successful track record in the oversight and direct involvement of highly designed commercial interior development.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Architecture or Interior design; Master’s degree preferred.
  • Working knowledge of AutoCAD, Adobe OS, Sketch Up, and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Experience in development of product/material, and project specifications.
  • Working knowledge of model building codes, specifically in New York City.
  • Highly organized with strong work ethic, strong management skills and ability to work well with a design team.
  • Excellent design and aesthetic sensibilities and an intrinsic understanding of luxury brands.
  • Flexibility to travel out-of-state a minimum of once per month.
  • Prior experience successfully managing multiple projects from inception to completion, on-time and on-budget.
  • Strong spatial understanding and strong hand-sketching ability.
  • Personal passion for the SoulCycle brand and/or fitness.

This position reports directly to the Senior Director of Design.
