This position offers an opportunity to work collaboratively on experimental architectural projects that aim to communicate to a public audience. The candidates will play a central role in a project’s definition, content development and final realization. Day to day work responsibilities involve research, graphic analysis, 2-D and 3-D representation, media production and writing. Candidates should have a strong design, writing and communications background and be well informed of contemporary architecture, design and culture.

- Excellent graphic design abilities
- Excellent writing, reasoning and communication skills
- Should be able to formulate lines of inquiry independently and to develop work in a sustained and logical manner
About C-Lab and Volume Magazine
C-Lab, the Columbia Laboratory for Architectural Broadcasting, is an experimental research unit devoted the study and communication of architecture issues that impact public policy. It operates as a semi-autonomous think tank at the Graduate School of Architecture, Planning and Preservation at Columbia University and is directed by Jeffrey Inaba.

Since 2005, C-Lab has collaborated with Archis and AMO on Volume, an independent bimonthly architectural publication dedicated to the production of new forms of architectural discourse. Volume Magazine was founded by Archis editor Ole Bouman, architect Rem Koolhaas, and Mark Wigley, Dean of the Columbia Graduate School of Architecture, Planning, and Preservation.

Interns will work at C-Lab’s space at STUDIO-X in downtown New York. STUDIO-X is a collaborative office launched by the Columbia University GSAPP that brings together architects, theorists, graphic designers, media thinkers, artists, and landscape architects for collective projects in design and research.
