Office renovation for The Unity Council, a non-profit organization providing housing and other assistance to the Spanish-speaking community in Oakland.  Project included new reception area, new open office layout with hotelling stations, and new conference rooms. As with all non-profits, the budget demanded smart use of resources. We were able to use flexible and low-cost items like storage cabinets and movable planters to define spaces that needed separation but not necessarily privacy.

The project had sustainability goals to reduce waste and improve indoor air quality. To that end, we demolished only what was necessary, specified zero VOC paints and carpet with a high recycled content, reused much of their existing furniture, and hunted down a reclaimed reception desk that worked well in the space.
