An oasis by definition is a fertile green spot in a desert or wasteland, made so by the presence of water. The natatorium, located in a green recreational park in the Korean and Latin community of Toronto, desires to become an oasis of its surrounding. Layers of the core gradually peel away and the degrees of experience change as one moves through and into the building, much like moving from a desert into a new, fresh space. The three required programs -- a diving tower, a swimming pool and a spa -- and an additional interior courtyard are the oasis of the natatorium for swimmers, pedestrians and spectators.
