Algal Airport

A structure that grows its own fuel.

This airport is a playful challenge to the traditional airport. Designed as a theoretical extension of the international passenger concourse at the JFK airport (NYC) the structure includes a unique living architectural system – a circulation system capable of growing fuel to support airport operations. The liquid water suspension that carries the algae is systematically integrated into the building's heating and cooling systems to help maintain a consistent internal temperature.
