My name is Janelle Baldock and I recently moved from Northern California to the Upper West Side in New York City. I graduated with a BFA in Interior Design and have also participated in community projects and ASID Student Chapter.
I completed my internship the summer between my junior and senior year of college at Dolce Home and Furnishings which is an interior design firm and furniture/accessories boutique. After completing my internship I was then hired as a junior designer/sales rep.
I also have had experience in holding a position at JP Construction as the sole designer. JP Construction is both a construction company and design consultation company. I learned a lot about the other side of design through this job which is the actual building and construction of the projects I designed in collaboration with my boss.
I hope that my knowledge and skills in the design field match what you are looking for in an employee. I would be happy to talk to any of you interested in learning more about me and my portfolio.
JP Construction, Chico, CA, US, Designer
Sole designer at a construction and consultation company. I was held responsible for creating great designs through material specs, input on furniture and architectural elements, creating construction drawings (floor plans, details, elevations, and RCPs) and purchasing and following up on getting the materials we need for each project.
Dolce Home and Design, Chico, CA, US, Intern promoted to Junior Designer/Sales Rep
As an intern I did a lot of research for future projects and furniture that could be used in the designs. I also worked on space plans for residential, hospitality, and commercial projects. I also helped clients in the store when they came in looking for furniture and accessories. I helped pick fabrics and other details for their furniture pieces.
When I was promoted to a part-time employee, I did all of these tasks along with taking on some of my own projects. One project in particular was designing a restaurant called Monks Wine Lounge and Bistro. I did some space planning and totally redesigned the interior atmosphere.
Pita Pit, Chico, CA, US, Crew Member
I was part of the crew for a restaurant called Pita Pit. We served healthy alternatives to the regular fast paced restaurant. We provided pitas with fillings as well as salads and drinks. My main responsibilities were to have excellent customer service, prepping, stocking, cleaning duties, and delivering.
American Dance Training Camp, Squaw Valley, CA, US, Assistant Program Director
As an assistant director I was second in charge of the entire camp for our Squaw Valley location. My main responsibilities were to run the camp. Duties included making sure the schedules were set, maintaining relationships with our field trip vendors and getting transportation for the girls, budgeting, setting up for the next week of campers, providing current campers families with updates on the camp website with photos, blogging, and more, and also helping the program director with any help she needed.
Along with being the assistant program director I was also a dance teacher and counselor. I taught a combination of jazz and hip hop classes, supervised on field trips, looked out for the safety of the girls, and provided a friend and mentor when needed.
Woodstocks Pizza, Chico, CA, US, Driver
Provided all necessary duties as a driver such as customer service, timeliness, safe driving, and financial duties. Along with driving duties I also was a major part of the in house crew, prepping, stocking, making food, customer service, waiting on tables, cleaning, and taking orders through our phone service.
Nevada Union Reception Office, Grass Valley, CA, US, Assistant Receptionist

California State University, Chico, Chico, CA, US, Bachelors, BFA Interior Design
Completed general education and degree requirements including an internship and community projects. In the interior design program we were taught by an array of professors that included practicing architects, practicing interior designers, construction documenters, and artists. There were five studios that we could choose from to study particularly, corporate, hospitality, residential, retail, and furniture design. I chose to focus on corporate, hospitality, and residential.
I received all A's and B's throughout my program and maintained a high gpa. I also participated in dance, school events, elections, art gallery shows, and also was a part of ASID student chapter.
University of Brighton, Brighton, England, Study Abroad-General Ed./ID courses
I took classes that I thought would be good classes to take abroad for both general education and my major courses. I learned a lot about the world from studying abroad and traveling and enjoyed my experience very much.
Luella Hopton Madson Scholarship for Interior Design, Scholarship
This scholarship was strictly within the Interior design department and had a number of applicants up for it. We had to submit some of our course work, studio work, write an essay, and recieve recommendation letters from professors.
