The Mayfair Community Center and Park opened January 30, 2009. This project is a single story, wood frame 21,000 SF Community Center located in a neighborhood park, next to a large community garden. The building contains of a banquet hall with full kitchen, 4 activity rooms, a fitness center, a computer room, a children’s room, a dance room, and swimming pool facilities. The site development included a swimming pool, spray park, play ground, and skate park.
I was the project manager for this project from design development through construction. I managed and coordinated production of the contract documents, coordinated all the consultants’ work, and worked closely with the lead designer to ensure we captured important details in a complete set of contract documents. During construction I was the day-to-day contact and architect representative for the client and contractor. I’m proud to have carried out the vision for this building, to have developed wonderful relationships with the client and construction team, and to have brought the project to completion on time and 5% under budget. Since completion, we’ve received rave reviews of the building from the community and the City of San Jose.
