Jess holds a masters degree in architecture with 4 years post-graduate experience working in the architectural and design industries as a graduate of architecture. She is currently working as the Marketing and Graphics Co-Ordinator at Meinhardt Australia.
Jess’ interests extend far beyond the traditional limits of the architecture and construction industries and into the realms of art, psychology, economics and law. Inspired by recent discussion surrounding intellectual property in the digital and globalised world, and an ongoing interest in property and construction law, she aims to become an advocate for the creative rights of architects, artists and designers.

Project: Fusion Apartments
I worked closely with the project leader and interiors team, I developed the RCP package which included the apartment lighting scheme and worked up details for the common areas and feature elements.

Eisenman Architects, New York, NY, US, Intern
In 2010 I completed an internship with Eisenman Architects. This position gave me the opportunity to work at both a practical and conceptual level on a large scale luxury residential complex sited in Italy and also a competition entry for a convention centre in China, respectively. Using mainly Rhino and AutoCAD, my jobs included 3D modelling and mark-ups. We were given the opportunity to offer design solutions in some cases which was a valuable learning tool in broadening one's architectural knowledge, innovation and initiative.
Armstrong Parkin Architects, Fremantle, AU, Student Architect Assistant
At Armstrong Parkin I was given a bigger role in the office than in my previous experience at Woodhead, building physical models, adjusting mark-ups and developing presentation images. I worked under the guidance of the directors using AutoCAD, Photoshop and VectorWorks. It was valuable experience as the environment was very collaborative and taught me a great deal about the value of a well organised project.
Woodhead International, Perth, AU, Studio Assistant
This position gave me the opportunity to work as an office assistant in the architectural environment. My main tasks included filing and archiving of drawings and general office documents and completing tasks for all members in the office. Towards the end of my time in the office I was completing basic presentation tasks for submissions. It was a great and solid introduction to the industry.
Monash University, Masters, Law JD
I am on the path to complete a full law degree that will allow me to enter legal practice. I intend to fuse my love of architecture with the law.
University of Western Australia, Nedlands, AU, MArch, Architecture
My dissertation project was a two-parter, looking at how architects express their intent through the design process and whether or not people ‘get it’: can you feel it as you walk through the space, see it, do you have to be told about it, does it matter either way?
The research took me beyond the comforts of architectural theory and into the realms of philosophy and sociology, looking not only at traditional sources but also at blogs, forums and travel feedback sites.
