    I am applying for a full time entry-level architectural designer position.

    The position seems to fit very well with my education, experience, and career interests.  I received Master of Architecture degree at SCI-Arc 2011.  Recently, I finished my graduate thesis “Infinite Involutions”.  In this thesis, I investigated the multilateral potentials of involutions which are based on how involutions show different behavior on various scales as expressed through the spatial organization, structure, and details.  In 2010, I have experienced at Solar Decathlon 2011 as the member of the SCI-Arc/CALTECH team.  I participated in Schematic Design, Solar Envelope Analysis, Physical Modeling in schematic design phase.  To maximize usability and flexibility, all services and storage have been embedded in the building’s thickened envelope.  During Solar Decathlon, I learned new housing typologies, alternative energy efficiency and sustainability.  Through these experiences, I learned the evolving redefinition of the interrelationship of architecture, fabrication technology, energy efficiency, and the sociology of architecture.  From SCI-Arc, I have learned pretty strong technique in digital modeling by using Autodesk Maya, Rhinoceros, and Zbrush including parametric analyzing tool such as paneling tools in Rhino.  Besides, I can make precise physical model by using Papermodeling, Laser Cutting, CNC Milling, 3D Printing, and Woodworking.

    Through my experience, I have thought the challenge is very important in contemporary design.  “The Challenge”, in the contemporary architecture, is not just the way to design but also the perspective of the approach in initial idea.  It is the harmony and a mutual relationship of the heterogeneous elements that exists within the architectural elements.  The position requires excellent design and team working skills.  I understand the position also requires a candidate who is reliable, resourceful and detail-oriented, works well under pressure, and is able to deal with and complete specific and customized orders.  I developed these skills through my work experience and my particular interest in this field.
