I am Himanshu Madhani a student from Texas A&M University recently graduated with M.S.in Architecture. I have worked on my thesis which focus on Facility Management and BIM and have explored various areas in Architecture. I have taken courses which do not restrict me to single aspect of architecture as I would like to understand architecture as a whole. My aim in pursuing M.S in Architecture was so that am not restricted with studios as I already have experience in designing. In this course pattern I am able to explore different fields and areas in Architecture like: BIM, COBie, GIS, Tools for Green Building Design, Land Development, Basic Business Management, health and safety requirements on construction site, facility management, presentation methods and other important skills which would help me as an Architect. My areas of focus have also been Daylight in Architecture and 5D modeling using BIM tool (Revit Architecture, Revit MEP, and Navisworks) to explain construction process. I have also worked with Dr. Stephan Caffey from our Architecture department on a research project which deals with climate responsive architecture in Vernacular Architecture. The research consists of studying vernacular architectural features around the world (especially South Asian Countries), their climate responsive behavior and incorporating them in Bryan-College Station. My thesis topic deals with assessing the potential of facility management in residences using BIM tool.
The designs in my bachelors program reflected sustainability and environmental consideration. Each design was an outcome of intense research in climatic conditions, location, environmental aspect and client’s point of view. Am an Architect’s son and that helped me in perceiving ideas and dealing with practical situations. I have also worked in a private Architectural firm in India which is known for its government projects, technical and municipal work. I have experience in various softwares, which include: BIM (Revit), AutoCAD 2D-3D, 3DsMAX, Rhino, Sketch up, ArchGIS, Photoshop, Flash, Dreamweaver, HTML, MS Office (Word, Excel, Power Point, and Access) and Tools for Green building design. From my previous work experience I have improved my ability to implement methods, techniques and tools to derive sustainable design and products. Throughout my undergraduate, graduate and work life I have been driven towards sustainability and energy conservation. Working, learning and experimenting with BIM is one of my interests along with using energy simulation tools.
Hiring me would help me give my inputs in most of the broad field which the company deals with. It would also improve my knowledge and working with experienced Architects, consultants would raise my level of understanding and applying knowledge in the field of Architecture and Construction.
