Richensia Jungdong is a 66story high-rise mixed-use residential complex situated in Bucheon New Town area, an attempt to define a new paradigm for urban housing. The project intended to break free from a typical standard residential apartment by introducing diverse changes and openness to the plan. Thereof, the functional identity of the interior space was exposed by having an outer layer of glass and aluminum material following the perimeter slab edges in the pillar and flat slab building structure. The project endeavored to delineate the urban symbolism of Bucheon, the ‘'Unique City’'. Two parks which exist at the front and back side were brought into the site and connected via a covered 2 story tall pedestrian pathway. A continuous chain of eco-axis with landscape themes such as ‘'Pine Forest’', ‘'Fine Hill’', and ‘'Flower Garden’' spaces were planned for people to experience various subject matters and colors. Through these expanded open spaces Richensia Jungdong hoped to become a place where there is constant urban flow and interaction.
