Shengda Office Building

The project for the Shengde office building is located in Bazhou City, in the Hebei Province. The functional program for this project included functions of offices, hotel and shopping areas, with a total construction area of  22,000 sqm, being organized on 13 floors above ground and one floor underground for car parking. The concept was born from a gesture, almost intuitive, seeking a composition of simple, fluid and elegant lines. This expression is driven by the search of a a beautiful, pure, free and sensual shape, that rises from the ground and grows toward the sky, defying gravity and creating a surprise.. The proposal seeks inspiration from natural forms and elements that illustrate the ideals of longevity, strength and robustness, which suggests a parallel with the character of the company. The fragmented shape takes advantage of the characteristics of the surrounding area, especially the several "gaps" between buildings found in the surrounding streets, where the image of the twin towers will become dynamic, changing the visual perception depending on the observer's location. The beauty of form is emphasized not only by the strong image of the two towers, but also by the empty space between them. As the French writer André Malraux once said: "...in a forest not only the trees are important but also the spaces between them." The idea of fragmentation is also justified by the functional organization, allowing separation of inner functions organized by the central atrium, with a free height of 13 floors. Besides organizing the functional elements, including vertical circulation and access, this space also plays an important role in the distribution of natural lighting into the interior space, accentuating the beauty of the form.
