The Community Design Studio focused on a group collaboration to generate a cohesive design for the Mission Hill Neighborhood in Boston, MA. All projects must be partially residential, as the goal is to provide the neighborhood with much needed housing development. In particular, I was part of a group of four students that focused on a cluster of residential projects in an Air-rights development built over the existing MBTA Orange Line subway tracks. Although budgeting specifics were not required to complete the project, a basic understanding of the economic value needed for such a development resulted in an eight-story residential building. The building provides single unit loft apartments ranging from 600 to 800 square feet. In conjunction with the lofts, the ground floor provides ample public domain, an internet cafe and small deli.
