About

Focused on her building scientist career, she obtained a Master’s Degree in Environment and Bioclimatic Architecture at the Technical University of Madrid, Spain [ETSAM] in 2012. García La Torre received her Architecture Degree from the Polytechnic University of Puerto Rico in 2009 while working with several Architectural and engineering firms since 2006.

From 2013-2015, her role as a  Researcher/Lecturer in the School of Architecture of the Pontifical Catholic University of Puerto Rico led her to teach architecture students in a team directed Design Studio's from first to fourth year with focus on Biomimicry and nature driven forward thinking design solutions. She was in charge of a funded research project: Bioclimatic Skins: Rethinking the Building Envelope Through Thermoregulation Strategies and Technics of Living Organisms. The project aimed to connect the Biology Department with the Architecture School to come up with future lines worthy of development. A series of successful workshops that included camping with Biologist and other students in an island and a tropical rainforest, resulted in an increase of student projects with innovative solutions inspired by nature for resiliency towards humid and arid climates.

Currently she resides and works since 2015 in the San Francisco Bay Area as a Facade Consultant at Front Inc with focus on environmental analysis for high-performance building enclosure, expanding her skills and experience related to building skins.

She also collaborates with CCA, California College of Arts as a consultant to post graduate students of Integrated Building Design Course workshops.
