What are the most important things to your career development?

What do you look for in a firm?

What keeps you there?

I'd love to get perspectives from people who want to become licensed as well as those who don't.

1. work variety, being exposed to all aspects of a project from schematics to completion, dealing with clients, consultants, and contractors at all phases.

2.  a firm that offers the exposure mentioned above, on a variety of different projects:  residential, multifamily, mixed-use, commercial, medical, industrial, whatever - variety is important.

3.  good work environment, decent hours, good people, short commute, good $, opportunity to take on more responsibility and grow with  your knowledge base.
