Research on Jali/Mashrabiya and its contemporary application (via simulation)

I am doing a masters research on Jali Mashrabiya (envelope technique in hot dry/humid areas) and i plan to work on ways of figuring out its application in contemporary world architecture. i wish to use simulation software and models to test my ideas further down the line. 

I want to run a rigorous literature review. Please guide me on journals, authors, architects, on both the topic and methods i wish to use.
