What are the best podcasts for becoming a better human?

chhess

On my long commute to work my brain is saddened by the mind dumbining talk of my local radio stations. I am looking for any recommendations for a quality podcast to make me a better human.

Could be architecture or non architecture related...

The Moth podcasts are always unpredictable and usually enjoyable.

The Hackney Podcast is pretty damn good and I've never even been to Hackney...or even London for that matter.

Yo!

Oh, and many of the M24 podcasts are pretty good too.  The Urbanist and Section D are probably most relevant for an architect in a professional sense.

Yo!

i would recommend downloading the audio from the TED talks. not sure they'll make you a better person but they can be interesting nonetheless.

I listen to more podcasts than anything else on my iPhone. Currently rotating through:

  • The Moth
  • NPR: Planet Money
  • Stuff You Should Know
  • This American Life
  • WNYC's Radiolab
  • 99% Invisible

Also going to have to check out The Urbanist and Section D

I listen to everything Brian listed, but I gotta add WTF with Marc Maron. I dunno if it will make  you a better human, but it is definitely enjoyable and funny.

Archinect Sessions, of course.

Archispeak is very good, too.

NPR just launched Invisibilia, I haven't listened yet but it sounds great and is recommended by Archinect blogger Lian.

I listen religiously to Skeptic's Guide to the Universe.

Am I the only one who can't stand listening to Archispeak anymore? I have better things to do with my time than listen to a group complain about this or that. They have so much "intro stuff" that they don't even get into the topic until five minutes or more have passed. Am I alone in this?

Donna, vado retro: What do you see valuable about their podcast?
