Hello, guys, I'm Arch master student from Tsinghua, China, female, 21.

3 months internship at a big institution. No work experience.

I am fantasic about regional tradition, and very into expressing regional culture in a modernized and abstract way. So I decide to apply for master II in Europe.

So I take Swissland, German, Italy, Spain, Netherland as my taget countries, where I think tradition has been continuously passed through modernism. I want to learn practical ways of building good-quality archtecture, which can help me realize my dream of develop Chinese Modern architecture when back to China.

So, the problem is, I've no idea what I would learn in those schools. Or possibly some opportunitise to intern at famous Architects' studio. I am worry about finally arriving at Eruope and finding everything unexpected.

Here is my list of dream schools, would you give some information about them? Any word is greatly appriciated.

Swissland: 1. ETH, Zurich (admission quite hard)

                     2. EPF Lausanne (Zumthor teaches there, right? )

German: 1. TUM, Muchen

                 2. RWTH, Archen

                 3. Stuttgart

                 4. Bolin

Italy: 1. Mendrison (good Italian tradtion I think)

Netherland: 1. Delft

2......seems a lot of schools, I've no idea yet

Spain: 1. Bacelona Institution

Hi Wistfor,

First of all, there are three good schools in Switzerland, ETH (german required), EPFL (French required) and Mendrisio (in ticino area where they speak italian but its a swiss school, however, you can get through with english as well). Peter Zumthor taught in Mendrisio but not anymore; he doesn't teach anymore.

Im not so familiar with schools outside switzerland in Europe.

Hope it helps. I think more research should be conducted.

Best,
