Libraries have constantly evolved to include newer forms of media.  The idea that we are going to just get rid of places that are the keepers of record is laughable.  The library will continue to evolve.  The thing to watch for is adapting technology that will actually last.  How long was the laser disc in common use?

Digital media fails.  All it takes in inadequate storage redundancy to loose something forever.  Granted, printed media can fail as well.  But the effort required to print media generally requires that multiples be generated.  Its expense would also tend to make one put into record only those things which are of some value.  Digital media is overflowing with useless garbage because it requires minimal effort and expense.

So, get rid of libraries and print media.  Feel free to hop on the internet and be greeted by a million click bait lines that say, "you won't believe what she did next".  That'll be great.

Yahoo answers is a suitable replacement for libraries. No need to do research or actual work, just crowd source everything!

Library is not just about a building, books and a sitting. It's more about the environment that it provides.

I am not going to write about importance and all the shit.
Just visit a public library. Roam through books shelves to find a book of your interest. Read it there, sitting in library just for half an hour or so.

Then come and tell me about your experience. Believe it, it's an extraordinary experience that you won't get from surfing on internet.
