Another Laptop Thread for School

Cors

It's that time of the year again for some... to look for laptop in order to survive.

Dell XPS 15
i7-6700HQ 2.6/3.5
8gb ddr4 (up to 32gb)
226 ssd
GeForce 960M 2gb
15.6" UHD 4K Touch
84 Wh 6-cell
4.4 lbs, 357 by 235 by 17 mm
$1,399

or

Dell Inspiron 15 7000 series:
i7-6700HQ 2.6/3.5
16gb ddr3l
128 ssd + 1TB hdd
GeForce 960M 4gb
15.6" UHD 4K Touch
74 Wh 6-cell
6 lbs, 383 by 265 by 25 mm
$1,199

This would be an investment, but  I was wondering if the XPS 15 can handle Adobe Programs, AutoCAD, Revit, 3DS max, Rhino, and other common programs for arch students, especially without having troubles doing so in heavier files or running more than one program at the same time?

The Dell XPS's build quality and overall product design is beautiful compared to the heavier and ugly Inspiron. Should 2GB and 226SSD and price, dictate whether I should rather just buy the Inspiron?

Or does anyone else have alternatives and suggestions?

- Thanks

Both would work well. IMHO, you want 16 GB ram.

I'm running an HP with similar specs to the Inspiron.  Software on the SSD and files on the bid HD.  ACAD runs great.  Adobe's current versions of PS and Illustrator are super-bloated and I would recommend the extra memory and VRAM to wrest the best performance you can from the bloatware.  Adobe has no competition anymore and their programs are really starting to suck.

Don't worry about if the computer looks pretty or not.
