Adaptive Reuse for Movie Houses

mfrancino

Hi I'm at the first stage of the Thesis which is the Title Defense (I'm getting ready for that) well my problem is that In this stage does my proposal need the specific building I'm using for adaptive reuse? I'm confuse, or I'll just present what is my study will be? I also have no idea how can I have a selection for Old Movie Houses in the City to come up with a specific building. HELP!!!

Make a new building.

Then adaptively reuse it, immediately.

Problem solved.

If you want serious answer, we need more information.

For now, my advice is that you should be talking to your thesis advisor.

what city will this movie house remake be in?

I would limit your options to spaces that you can get plans and section drawings and or have relatively free access to otherwise you are going to struggle getting the existing shell figured out if this "thesis" is indeed a project instead of a research paper.

this type of building is often one of the most politically contentious and controversial you can find in a major city.

Over and OUT

In Toronto a group of people just turned the old porn palace Marquee into a climbing gym. There's gotta be a thesis in there somewhere...

why can't they just be used as a home after a movie is filmed?  You need to make it into a candy shop or something?  why?

VE Item #1:  Delete thorough cleaning; Sticky walls and ceilings to enhance the climbing wall experience of patrons.

CO #1:  Include blacklights to highlight stickiest parts of the wall and ceiling.

Well My topic is about Adaptive Reuse of a Movie House/ Theater in Manila, Philippines these are mostly Art Deco Theaters which is pre - war buildings, I do not know how can I select a specific building in the districts of Manila, do I need a feasibility study of each theater, Im really confuse, The goal mainly is to promote Adaptive Reuse as an option for Heritage Buildings that are now Obsolete and to attain a sustainable Development in Manila thru developing old buildings and integrating new technology. I seriously think that my topic is still not well constructed.

I do not know how can I select a specific building

It's an academic project, so just pick something you think will be a good prototype. Don't think of your design as just a design but as an example of a replicable idea.

The goal mainly is to promote Adaptive Reuse as an option for Heritage Buildings that are now Obsolete and to attain a sustainable Development in Manila thru developing old buildings and integrating new technology.

This is a very good seed, now do some research and hash out a more specific proposal. Again, this is a conversation you should have with your advisor.

You're not on the wrong track, you're just not far enough along the path yet. Keep going!
