Looking for pre-college book on a building's infrastructure

qed479

Hello,

I'm a retired electrical engineer.  I have a 15 year old grandson who is very interesting in architecture.  His high school courses next year will introduce exterior and interior architecture.  I would like to find a pre-college book that introduces the "out of sight" infrastructure systems within buildings; e.g., electrical, elevator, fire suppression, and plumbing systems.  Anyone have a suggestions?  Thanks.

I don't have an answer for you, but try searching building systems instead of infrastructure.

I don't know if I would agree with your choice of gift, though. It seems to me that for a high school kid, architectural history and structures would be better ways to introduce the subject. Curious - what class will he be taking? Sounds awfully specific.
