Mobile Modular Housing in a possible Trump Presidency

zonker

If Trump becomes president - and since 54% of his supporters live in trailer parks- won't the architectural profession need to design this new "mobile typology" to solve the affordability crisis?

Homelessness in Los Angeles and San Francisco has exploded under.......Obama. If Trump can get the jobs back from overseas, and cut the H1B program, and control the borders there might be an increase of jobs. It was Bill Clinton and NAFTA that largely started the sell-out of the middle class, some of which are indeed now without jobs living in house trailers.

^Demagogue tilting at straw men. Yep, Bill Clinton and a Republican Congress passed NAFTA (You can look up the votes, it didn't get a majority from Dems in either chamber.) That was a shitty move, and both parties have been pretty happy to gut the working class ever since. But, immigration has very little to do with it: the fault lies with an establishment that allowed capital to flee its responsibilities without any repercussions.

But to say that anything at all might result from a Trump presidency makes you culpable for the harm he would certainly cause. First and foremost, the man is a racist and xenophobe. He's also completely unfit to lead.

Maybe we could design mobile housing that can be shipped to Canada in case that asshole wins. People would like that.

we're doing 'tiny homes' instead of trailer homes now.  trailer homes are too luxurious for today's working class.  they all have that entitlement thing.  what we need is a modification of building codes so tiny homes can be built less safe to make them cheaper, and modification to zoning ordinances to make sure the blight of tiny homes can't be seen from my house.

are you sure the rise in LA's homeless population started with bill clinton and nafta, rather than say bush's tax cuts?  seems to me LA was doing pretty good during the dot com bubble, which was a period of a lot of growth during the clinton administration

The only thing different about Trump from the rest of the political machine is that he is an accurate representation of what our country really is...an oligarchy with a fat and dumb population.  The other puppet heads are kinda like Bjark Ingles who try to sugar coat and green wash corporatism to make it seem like populism.   Trump is like Patrick Shumacher.  The thing that makes Trump disgusting are his mannerisms.  His objectives are really not that different from the rest of the piggies.  He is a vile creature that pretty accurately represents the vile nature of our culture.  I love this country, but it's been taken over by globalism, greed, corporate interests, and an uneducated, dumb, apathetic majority.  Our problems are rooted in 3 main trends.

1... The centralization and outsourcing of our economies.

2... The deterioration of community both socially and physically.

3... The decay of our overall culture and "spiritual" identity via consumerism, poor education, and the "plastic" nature of all things we consume.  (Spiritual-Not in a religious way, but rather a disconnect from our natural selves)

if Trump buildings are any sign of anything, consider the following: 1 - the buildings and managements in many of the premier properties are low beauracry and fairly deregulated, 2 - the interiors are low grade because a minimum must be met to sell and just about every buyer will rip it out and rebuild anyway..... ..a Trump trailer court would exactly be that, an empty Trailer court and the buyer selects their design and personalization of their own.......on the right the working class still wants to own regardless of size and quality and on the left the working class is willing to share to have any standard of living.......
