Kahn, Barnes and Yamasaki in 1961 - Detroit Context - Curious

I saw this photo on eBay just now:

And wonder what these guys were doing together in Detroit on this seemingly-auspicious day.

This should be fun. The photograph appears to be from the Wayne State University archives, but I don't immediately recognize the building as being on the WSU campus. Kahn didn't do much in Detroit after his worker housing around Willow Run airport in the 40s. Barnes may have done a residence or two in the Detroit area, but nothing significant. Yamasaki of course ran his office out of Detroit until his death. As much as I would like to believe this was a seminal moment, my guess is it was something more prosaic - likely the architects were in town for a seminar or panel at WSU - that's my guess.
