And you plan to do what exactly?

I'm trying to understand why you changed. It's either because of money or you never really wanted to enter the field in the first place. Which, as humorous as it may seem to you, is entirely your indecisiveness so take note of that before trying to share another long rambling curmudgeon story.

Do you miss it?

What's your planned specialty? How are the hours?

How did your family react?

good story. why medicine? how did you get so far into architecture before realizing it was a mistake?

I'm not an expert in medical field but from my own understanding:

Residency is a term used for internship in medical, social working/counseling, and similar and related field in hospital and clinical settings. Basically, clinical residency. The term is apparently common there and is basically the supervised internship before they can fully practice as a doctor independently.

I almost did the same thing. But I couldn't handle the commitment. Hats off to you, I have a ton of respect for anyone who can make it through med school. Especially if you have a back-up plan. It was too easy for me to quit and go back into architecture.

An intern doctor is licensed to practice medicine.
