Hello everyone.
Im a college student and have been using rhino for 3 years now but it was mainly to make simple 3ds with regular walls and glass systems. Nothing too complicated ..
Since my design project for this semester includes designing a tower, and eventually I would have to make the 3d (using rhino), I was wondering if there was any plugin that helps with drawing some sort of complex skin for instance? or do any of you know of a beneficial tutorial?
I know there's probably a lot of ways one would be able to do this without wasting time, because I've watched a friend of mine draw a skin on several different planes of one tower and it was torture.

The obvious answer is grasshopper, but that comes with it's own complexities.
There are also paneling plugins.
This website has great examples of grasshopper too. The scripts are a great place to start playing with grasshopper and you can learn alot just by trying to resolve the scripts onto your forms.

Designing a tower means that grasshopper is the most necessary tool ? Use your pen and paper! They are also great tools.

The OP is looking for help to find a digital design methodology to avoid redrawing a complex skin/facade system for a tower repeatedly from scratch.
As the others said, Grasshopper's most essential function as a nodal-network modeler rather than a positive/negative modeler is a very useful tool for this specific type of function - it could be worth checking out/giving it a try for this specific scenario.

Just to make sure - do you know the Rhino surface commands? Lofting and sweeping might be all you need - and there are other commands in the program which might work (extrude curve along curve?). Sorry if my response was way too basic, but there's a lot of functionality in Rhino, w/o getting into Grasshopper.
Grasshopper is cool and would certainly work for more complex stuff, but there's a learning curve. Digital toolbox is a good place to start w/grasshopper if you need it.
